“Canelo”, Dangerous cartel member, arrested by State and Federal task force in Mexicali Valley

An alleged member of a criminal cell active in the rural area of ​​the state capital, identified as Felipe de Jesús “N,” alias “El Canelo, was arrested by State and Federal security forces while in possession of firearms, ammunition, and several methamphetamine packages of drug, the Baja California Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSCBC) reported.

At about 3:50 PM on Monday, August 10, agents from the State Citizen Security Force (FESC), along with personnel from the Navy (MARINA) and the Federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), spotted a speeding KIA Sportage without license plates on Callejón Benito Juárez García in the Ciudad Coahuila *ejido* (a community near kilometer 57).

Officers signaled the driver to stop using emergency lights and loudspeakers, but he ignored the order, sparking a pursuit that ended shortly thereafter. The occupants identified themselves as Felipe de Jesús “N” (28) and Moisés “N” (27), hailing from Nayarit and Culiacán, Sinaloa, respectively.

Officers observed that the men were carrying firearms; upon searching the individuals and the vehicle, they seized two rifles, two handguns, a total of 21 magazines, and 398 live rounds of various calibers. They also seized a black fabric case, four two-way radios, three ballistic vests, and 1,350 small packages containing methamphetamine, weight of approximately 852 grams, a tad less than 2 pounds and the car had been stolen according to a report issued on July 29, 2026, in Baja California.
