Ensenada Mayor, Armando Ayala Robles, held a meeting with executives from Ensenada Cruiseport Village, the Seatrade Cruise Global 2022, which took place in Florida, he showed them tourism developments that will become important attractions for the shipping lines whose cruise ships arrive in Ensenada, thus achieving 35 additional arrivals of cruise ships to the port, the year will close with around 600 thousand visitors.
Ayala Robles specified that, at the end of this year´s Summer, Disney Wonder cruise ships return to Ensenada and they will extend their season from September 2022 to April 2023: “This means that the 10 to 12 visit average will increase to above 30 arrivals, that is, more than double,” he said.
He stressed that the record figure of 315 arrivals is encouraging, especially on the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and, simultaneously, he thanked Laura Rodríguez, Ensenada Cruiseport Village executive, and investor Adolfo White.
Also participating in the meetings were Preston Carnahan, Director of Destination Development for Royal Caribbean; Matthew Weintraub, Norwegian Cruise Line representative; and José Fernández and Ralph Dahlgren representatives of Disney Cruise Line.
Ayala said that these meetings were intended to publicize and advertise the projects and investments in tourism that are coming to Ensenada in the coming months in order to strengthen the destination for cruise ships.

“We announced a series of projects -in the company of investors- in terms of tourism infrastructure to increase and improve the experience of the thousands of tourists who come to Ensenada through tourist cruises,” he explained.
Our goal, he reiterated, is to increase the arrival of cruise ships to our destination from this year, including the one that more passengers get off to enjoy everything we offer in Ensenada.
It is worth mentioning that, in 2019, before the pandemic, 270 boats docked in Ensenada with a total of 674,455, of which 478 thousands 863 tourists disembarked.
“The tourism sector is one of the main sources of the economy of our municipality and in that sense, cruise ships play a fundamental role. We will continue to place Ensenada as the best tourist destination in the northwest of the country and one of the main destinations in the Mexican Pacific, while we continue to deliver results in terms of security,” he said.
Ayala Robles stressed that the representatives of the different cruise lines expressed their approval for the improvements in the infrastructure in the city, as well as the projects that are on the horizon, which would make it possible for more cruise ships to arrive at the port of Ensenada.
In this regard, Mayor Ayala said that it is intended that 2022 for Ensenada to have at least 30 additional ship arrivals, since during 2020 and part of 2021 the figures fell due to the COVID-19 pandemic and sanitary restrictions.
