Certainly, the health contingency has strongly impacted the destination; Tourism, which is the main economic activity in the municipality, has been greatly affected, however, something that characterizes Los Cabos is making weaknesses a strength. The coordinated work between the public and private sectors has shown, once again, that all together we can get out of difficulties.

«Today the destination registers an occupancy percentage of 40% with peaks on weekends that reach up to 45% occupancy, in addition there is a forecast of reaching around 50% during the Thanksgiving Day weekend, weekend which always sets trends in occupation due to the importance it has in the destination.

It is important to highlight that this year’s festivities will be in a different way, respecting above all the biosafety guidelines and protocols, but maintaining the highest level of quality and warmth that characterizes us,” said Lilzi Orcí, Executive President of the Association. Los Cabos Hotels.

Undoubtedly this shows the preference that tourists have for Los Cabos, the national and international reference brand. Another good news is the recovery in airplane seats and that, despite the circumstances, a very competitive average rate remains above US $ 250.00

The occupancy forecast for the rest of the month of November shows an average of 40% in Los Cabos and for the last month of the year an average of 39% is expected throughout the destination. It is important to mention that this number is on the rise, with the trend of receiving a large number of last minute reservations.

The good news is thanks to the efforts of all the collaborators of the companies that are part of the tourism value chain, wills reflected in all the certifications that have been obtained in the companies and as a destination. Los Cabos continues as an example in following the biosecurity protocols, an action reflected in satisfied visitors who are willing to return and enjoy one of the most impressive, beautiful vacation spots worldwide.

Mexico´s federal government announced 229 billion pesos investment, Los Cabos and Ensenada are included

THE BAJA POST

The largest of these 29 investment projects, is a 47-billion-peso natural gas plant to be built in Ensenada, Baja California, as well as a water desalination plant in Los Cabos, the federal government and the private sector presented details on Monday of an agreement to collaborate on the construction of 29 infrastructure projects worth 228 billion pesos (US $11.3 billion).

CARLOS OROZCO Mexico entrepreneurial organization leader

Finance Minister Arturo Herrera said that 10 projects worth a combined 43 billion pesos are already underway and that the other 19 are to start soon. “The idea is … to announce the projects that are very close to starting,” he told reporters at President López Obrador’s morning press conference, asserting that they will have an “immediate impact” on employment and investment.

There are several Federal Electricity Commission projects and two projects that are part of the construction of a desalination plant in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.

He said the largest new project is a 47-billion-peso natural gas plant to be built by the Mexican energy company IEnova in Ensenada, Baja California. Construction is slated to commence in January 2021. Among the other projects presented Monday were the 20-billion peso Naucalpan-Ecatepec highway in México state, the 4.2-billion-peso Cuapiaxtla – Cuacnopalan highway in Tlaxcala and Puebla, a 9-billion-peso gas pipeline on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the 5.2-billion-peso Silao – San Miguel de Allende highway in Guanajuato.

Including the projects presented Monday, the government has agreements with the private sector to build 68 infrastructure projects with an investment of 525 billion pesos (US $26 billion) Herrera said. Details of 39 of them were presented in early October.

“This is the number we need to recoup the [formal sector] jobs that were lost [due to the pandemic],” Carlos Salazar said, the investment associated with the 29 projects is equivalent to 2.3% of Mexico’s GDP. Salazar also said that the best way to strengthen the economy – which in 2020 appears likely to suffers its worst contraction since the Great Depression due to the coronavirus pandemic and associated restrictions – is for both the private sector and the government to invest in it. “We, the entrepreneurial sector, are very interested … in supporting this kind of projects” announced today, he said. The CCE chief added that the government and private sector are working on another bundle of projects but didn’t say when it would be presented.

The two parties presented a US $42.95-billion National Infrastructure Plan just over a year ago that included 147 projects including several large ones in the tourism sector.

Baja California peninsula, south and north, 1 thousand mile land stripe offering too much beauty

There are many touristic wonders in Mexico, from the wonderful colonial cities of Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro and others, to the amazing ruins in Teotihuacan, Monte Alban, La Venta, Palenque, Chichen Itzá or Uxmal, just to name a few, daydream beaches and beautiful mountain landscapes, there are many things for tourists to enjoy in Mexico.

One of the most beautiful and diverse places to spend a while touring around desert, mountains, forests and beautiful seashore places is the Baja California peninsula which includes two states: Baja California and Baja California Sur, it is the latter where Los Cabos is, one of the most popular vacation places among the rich and famous.

An adventure through Southern Baja California would take you from the beaches of Los Cabos, through the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains with stops at quaint villages, and ends with more beaches and water activities in the delightful city of La Paz. Although each stop is located in the same state, you will find each has its own vibe — from the excitement of Cabo, through sleepy villages, to end in the quiet beauty of La Paz, leaving you wondering if you did not miss a turn and wind up in the Caribbean.

The straight route, along Highway 19, is the coastal road-more-traveled, this off-the-beaten-path adventure will immerse you in the sights and culture of the Baja Peninsula, seeing an intimacy many visitors miss by taking the highway, so they really deprive themselves of one of the planet´s most beautiful views.

Route 1, takes people on mountain roads through the Sierra de la Laguna with a glimpse of the ocean near Los Barriles, where there is a super fancy, luxurious and exclusive housing complex, where you can buy land and built your own mansion or take a look at the real estate market that offers “out-of-this-world” vacation houses and manors. This mountain drive has many curves, so caution is recommended.

Tourist may want to try both routes, but many people recommend returning via Highway 19 if they are driving back to Cabo. That way, you can experience both routes through Southern Baja. You can make the trip from Cabo to La Paz in about 3 hours, but instead of driving straight through, make it a road trip and stop in these six beautiful cities.

Stay informed with THE BAJA POST, where we will take you to the most beautiful places in the whole peninsula that includes two states and about one thousand miles from Los Cabos to the Tijuana-San Ysidro-San Diego border, a huge strip of land where you may find more than one kind of paradisiac places to spend a few days, a short or long season or even consider to retire and come to live to one of the most intriguingly beautiful places on planet earth.
