President Trump calls off the attack on Iran, two weeks of negotiation and probable opening of Strait of Ormuz

The bombing that was supposedly intended to “wipe Iran off the map” was postponed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, who negotiated with the Government of Pakistan and accepted a proposal from that country’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir.

In journalistic analyses of these troubling statements by Trump, it was suggested that the bombings aimed to “erase” a country that refused to comply with his demands to reopen the oil passage, which had been closed in retaliation for the war initiated against them.

For now, he has only stated that he will extend by two more weeks the deadline he had given Iran to negotiate an agreement to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz; otherwise, he would bomb Iran using the full arsenal available to his country.

Pakistani leaders asked him to hold back the destructive force that was supposedly going to eliminate Iran that night, and on the condition that Iran agree to the full, immediate, and safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he decided to suspend the bombing and attack.

All of this happened just four hours before the deadline expired. Sharif had requested a ceasefire that would allow for a definitive diplomatic solution to the conflict. The agreement announced by the United States brought an end to a day of extremely high tension.

Earlier that morning, Trump had said that “an entire civilization will die tonight.” Iran warned that, in the event of a U.S. attack, it would plunge “the entire region and Saudi Arabia” into darkness.
