Fourteen officers from the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) have been suspended and are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the theft of 180 kilograms of cocaine, according to General Laureano Carrillo, Citizens Security Secretary, at the end of Governor’s press conference.

He said that besides the drugs, there was an unspecified amount of cash also taken by whoever committed this movie-like-heist, which occurred on October 4 in the Ojo de Agua area of Tijuana,  and everything points towards the inside f the FESC said General Carrillo.

The case is  now considered one of the most serious incidents and spectacular, high profile crimes committed not only within the state’s security forces (Namely FESC) but in the State History and it is being investigated by the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

At the time of the robbery, State Attorney General, Ma. Elena Andrade Ramírez confirmed the incident and the opening of the corresponding investigation file by special agents on her orders.

On Wednesday, General Carrillo Rodríguez, announced that the 14 FESC officers who are allegedly involved in this heist, will remain suspended from duty while their responsibility in the theft is determined.

General Carrillo stated that there is evidence implicating the 14 officers who are currently suspended and being investigated in Baja California, in one of the biggest cases of drug stealing and corruption within the ranks of the FESC which in fact is  the State Police who should be fighting crime no fostering it. THE BAJA POST will update any information regarding this case as it develops.
