Baja California State Government, through the Department of Education, is proud to announce the efforts of Wilber Arano, a student from 16 de September University, who won the third-place award in the Mini Sumo category during the Robokids International Robotics Tournament, which is a worldwide competition of youngsters building and working with robots.
Secretary of Education, Irma Martínez Manríquez, acting on orders of the State Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, has promoted STEAM education in Basic, Upper Secondary, and Higher Education schools, looking forward to aligning students’ abilities with Baja California’s economic strengths, and give them a boost thru Gov support, either scholarships or financial aid
Wilber Arano, is his name and he is a member of the Panthers Robotics team, and earned the third place in the Mini Sumo category during the Robokids International Robotics Tournament, held at the Nueva Granada Military University in Bogotá, Colombia. This achievement is the result of the academic training provided by his teachers.
This significant accomplishment reflects Wilber’s effort, discipline, and academic excellence, as well as the commitment of Garage Project Hub — a space where he develops his talent — and 16 de Septiembre University, which promotes the holistic education of its students.
Arano’s performance in this international competition demonstrates that with dedication, innovation, and teamwork, it is possible to raise the profile of Baja California and Mexico on the global stage
Education based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) has fostered the innate abilities of girls, boys, and teenagers from the preschool level. Across all educational levels, students from every municipality have stood out at both national and international levels.
Panthers Robotics, Garage Project Hub, and the 16 de Septiembre University have proven to be strong mentors and supporters of outstanding students who have crossed borders and become an inspiration for future generations.
