“Violence against women is not an isolated issue for one nation; it is a challenge for everyone, and in our state, we are committed to continuing to work tirelessly to protect women,” said the Director of the Women’s Justice Center (CEJUM) of Baja California, Magdalena Bautista Ramírez, in Washington, DC.
Bautista said she was honored to be invited to the grand celebration of the Violence Against Women Act thirtieth anniversary, an event which was headed by U.S. President Joseph Biden at the White House.

“From Baja California, as Governor Marina del Pilar reminds us daily, we remain firm in our mission to guarantee a life free of violence for all women, and this commemoration reinforces the importance of joining forces at the international level to combat gender violence,” said Magdalena Bautista.
This hallmark underscores public policies relevance and the role that international cooperation plays in the quest for gender-based violence erradicatiom, and in the ceremony, world leaders and women’s rights advocates gathered together in the White House lawn in order to strengthen efforts and help create a safe environment for all women, regardless of borders.

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Director Magdalena Bautista Ramírez also attended a commemoration at the Department of Justice, organized by the Office on Violence Against Women, led by Rosie Hidalgo, who recognized the work being done in Mexico’s Women’s Justice Centers, highlighting their fundamental role in the protection and support of victims of gender-based violence.
