Crime in Tijuana seems to be unstoppable, police agents are attacked, drugs are trafficked and almost everyday we learn of people being arrested with loads of drugs and complete arsenals and ammo, with delinquents being detained and bodies found in clandestine “communal graves”.
The last sample of this “crime wave” was an officer of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), who had been inactive for 11 months due to poor health, and was assassinated on Tuesday morning, July 18, in Tijuana, for no apparent motive, the State Attorney General’s Office reported in a press release, and stated that investigations are just beginning.
Specialized Prosecutor for Crimes Against Life (official name of Homicide Division) was still processing the scene of the crime at the time the press release was issued, but agents are working in order to determine who committed the attack against the former AEI agent, Heriberto Moreno Vega, qt around 10:00 AM the El Lago section of Tijuana.
The deceased was inactive in the State Investigation Agency, so he did not maintain the status of acting agent, for more than 11 months due to a recurring medical disability.
Personnel from the State Investigation Agency, working together with the support of other law enforcement agencies, are working in the area to establish lines of investigation in order to find out who ordered and/or committed the murder.
The State Attorney General’s Office regrets this homicide and has designated the Homicide Prosecutor’s Office to carry out the corresponding investigations until this crime is solved and those responsible are found.
