The 55th edition of the Score Baja 1000 included the participation of 280 teams from 17 countries and 35 states of the USA, the engines roared Friday morning, November 18 in the Off Road Racing World Capital City, with the traditional Score Baja 1000, Ensenada Mayor Armando Ayala Robles, welcomed the 280 teams participating in the race that will also finish in Ensenada, even though it usually ends in La Paz, Baja California Sur.
He stressed that this race projects Baja California and Ensenada to the whole planet, since media and fans from all over the world are following transmissions; it is broadcast on ESPN 2, in 25 countries and released in the Score Journal that has 2.1 million readers, and next yearm, for the first time since 1967, it will go from La Paz to Ensenada.

Mayor Ayala Robles highlighted the financial spread generated by this event, estimated around 12 million dollars, which is reflected in hotel occupancy, consumption in restaurants, self-service stores, mechanical workshops, auto part stores, and even souvenir sales.

“We cannot think at an individual level, since the benefits are for a wide sector of the Ensenada community, those who live in the city and in the towns in rural areas where racers will pass, this type of event encourages tourism, attracts new investment projects and generates well-being for many families”, Said Ayala Robles.

He invited local population and visitors to respect security operation for this event, where the three levels of government (City, State and Federal) and the staff of Score International participate, so that the competition may occur with no events to regret. .
On behalf of governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Enrique Rangel assured that it is an honor for Ensenada and its residents to host this traditional event that consolidates this municipality as the world capital of off-road racing.
“We reiterate our support in holding international events, due to the projection they give to Baja California and particularly to Ensenada, which attracts tourism and generates a significant economic benefit,” he mentioned.
On behalf of Score International, several times Baja 500 and Baja 1000 champion, motorcyclist Scot Harden, Marshal of the 55th edition of the Baja 1000, thanked authorities, residents, race promoters and riders for making this event possible, Mexico´s national anthem was sung by Mexican singer Juliancito in the starting ceremony.
