Solving mobility complications in the State and air pollution problems due to vehicle emissions are part of the Baja California Government’s work to benefit the population, said the Secretary of Sustainable Economy and Tourism (SEST), Mario Escobedo Carignan, at present the Tijuana-Tecate Interurban Train project, a project in coordination with the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development and Territorial Reorganization (SIDURT).
“This project will be a reality during the administration of Governor Jaime Bonilla Valdez, it will generate an investment of more than 2,800 million pesos, in its first stage, and the other important part, on the environmental issue, will allow us to remove 200 thousand tons of CO2 per year, in the city of Tijuana “
Escobedo Carignan, exposed the plan on the social networks of Governor Jaime Bonilla Valdez, a work that seeks to use the existing railroad track in Tijuana, for the effective transfer of passengers and give way to the reorganization of public transport, transporting 30 thousand passengers daily initially, to finish serving more than 120 thousand and will allow to “erase” 200 thousand tons of carbon dioxide per year.
With 71.4 kilometers, the route will solve the lack of organization in Tijuana, with a safe environment, under the health measures of the new normal, sustainable and in solidarity with all users, said Escobedo Carignan, and indicated that the first stage comprises a length of 27.41 kilometers, which will include two terminals and seven stations on the main public transport routes of Tijuana, an estimated route of 45 minutes and the second stage will extend the line to Tecate
