San Felipe and Mexicali restaurants will reopen today, July 15, at a third of their capacity in Mexicali and San Felipe, three hundred of them will be serving the public under very strict hygiene and sanitization rules, said Mexicali Major Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda in a press conference.

The Sanitary Risk Prevention Commission (COEPRIS in Spanish) will be watching to make sure rules are applied in restaurants and alcohol sale won´t be permitted by now, but it may be allowed in a few weeks, all depending on how the situation develops, said commissioner Marco Aurelio Gámez Servin, during the conference.

Several restaurants will open and it is real good news for more than ten thousand workers whose jobs were in risk after three months of quarantine, said Miguel Angel Torres, president of the Restaurant Chamber of Mexicali, and said that the protocol “Safe Table” was a strict code that all the restaurants implemented and which was monitored by COEPRIS inspectors and City Hall officials.
