About 310 kilograms of marijuana were seized by State Citizen Security Force (FESC) agents, in coordination with Mexican Army personnel—during a surveillance operation in the San Antonio de las Minas district, near the Guadalupe Valley, according to the State Security Secretary, general Laureano Carrillo.
The seizure was the aftermath of a car chase, when the driver crashed and fled, abandoning the cargo, and he managed to evade arrest
The Inter-institutional Operations Base (BOI) was patrolling the Valle de Guadalupe when they spotted a maroon 2016 Jeep Cherokee without license plates traveling along a dirt road. Upon seeing the convoy, the driver accelerated and honked repeatedly, seemingly attempting to warn someone—before speeding away.
He drove to a house located on Gómez Farías Avenue, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a utility pole, he got out of the car and ran into the brush; agents ran after him but were unable to locate him due to the darkness and rugged terrain.
Then they established a safety perimeter and returned to the SUV in order to check the inside of the car, they found 31 rectangular packages wrapped in brown packing tape containing marijuana.
They also found a green car with the trunk open containing packages like those on the other car; a strong smell of fuel was also detected, prompting a request for a Technical Investigation Order.
The seized narcotics were turned over to the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), which will handle the proceedings to determine the origin and destination of the packages and continue the investigation into the case.
