One suspect has been arrested following a car-bomb attack perpetrated on Sunday August 30th, against the Ojocaliente PD building, a city in Zacatecas, a State in Southcentral Mexico. Internet, media and an official press release mentioned that the blast injured six civilians including one female police officer, with no casualties were reported.

Ricardo Monreal, a powerful politician from Zacatecas, who has governed the State and whose brother is the current Governor, attributed the attack to his sibling action and successful efforts in combating organized crime.

«I know the Governor very well,» said Ricardo Monreal, referring to his brother David—who heads the state’s executive branch—asserting that the current insecurity stems from the earlier administration of Alejandro Tello Cristerna (PRI).

«We will not yield a single inch in the process of pacifying Ojocaliente, or any of the state’s 57 municipalities; the Secretariat of Public Security has succeeded in arresting one of the individuals involved.» General Arturo Medina, the Secretary of Public Security, said that a task force has been appointed and that a suspect—who may have participated in the attack—was arrested in the town of Piedra Gorda. He also noted that it could take up to two weeks to clear and clean up the damaged building.
