The nearly 18-hour operation on Friday, April 10 in Mexicali initially began as a case for Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR), as it involved a federal crime due to gunfire, when Mexicali PD cops answered a report of a noisy party which had been going on all night long and the early hours of the morning, explained Baja California State Attorney General María Elena Andrade Ramírez. she also informed about two top notch Los Rusos cartel members detained
“When we learned who was inside the house, we realized there were high-risk, high-level targets at the location, they allegedly belong to Los Rusos cartel” said Ms. Andrade, Baja California General Attorney

The situation began with a citizen complaint about a loud party early that Friday morning. There were many people inside the house, and authorities considered it urgent to obtain a search warrant. The FGR never refused to issue it, but such protocols and procedures take time, which is why the wait was prolonged, at the end two high command «iscarios» of Los Rusos criminal group wre detained.

In the end 28 people were arrested, but authorities had to wait several hours while maintaining strict surveillance on the property to prevent any suspects from escaping, the Attorney General stated during a joint press conference with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and the State Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCBC).
When the search warrant arrived many things had happened, a man turn himself to authorities, there were threats against the Mexicali PD and State cops, there were messages saying “we´re going to kill you” trough the Police radio frequency and there also was an gunfire attack against a Police booth near the place where the party was taking place.
The situation had begun with a citizen complaint about a loud party early that Friday morning, when the Police arrived there were bottles thrown against them as well as random gun shots, and from the inside of the house, some of the people in the party were shouting “you don´t know who you´re messing with” as if they were certain that nothing would happen that it would all go away.
There were many people inside the house, including minors, Ms. Andrade said and explained that they were in a high risk situation so it was urgent to obtain the search warrant in order to detain the two Cartel bosses and place the minors under police protection and custody.
There were rumors saying that the Federals (FGR) refused to issue it, but such protocols and procedures take time, which is why the wait was prolonged, according to General Carrillo. “It was not our intention for them to remain there that long,” said General Carrillo. “However, we were facing a very serious situation due to the presence of firearms. We also knew that minors were inside the house where the party was taking place.”
