In Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, a small town in Jalisco (Cebtrak western state) agents from the SSPC (Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection), FGR (Attorney General’s Office), Defense Ministry, National Guard, and Navy, arrested Gustavo Botello Rodríguez, 32, AKA “El Viejón”, who is believed to be operational leader of «La Barredora», a very dangerous criminal group linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
“To reduce crime rates, we must arrest those who commit crimes. An example of this is Guanajuato, where the arrest of priority targets led to a 56.1% drop in homicides between February and August 2025,” wrote García Harfuch.

La Barredora is a criminal organization that has drawn significant attention, especially after a former high-ranking Public Security official from Tabasco was deported from Paraguay, where he had reportedly fled due to alleged ties with this criminal group, which is one of the most dangerous.
Ongoing operations across different parts of the country have shown results, but authorities acknowledge that each time a criminal leader is captured, others often emerge to take their place, making the fight against organized crime increasingly complex.
