SAN FELIPE: Public works aiming to keep rainwater off Santa Catarina Creek and prevent seawater intrusion during high tides, with an investment of 23 million 798 thousand pesos (a tad over one million dlls.) will be financed by the Mexicali State Public Services Commission (CESPM)’s a State Organism, and the floodgates are expected to be completed in about six months.
Installation of the floodgates will allow control the of stormwater flowing down the Santa Catarina Creek, preventing flooding that frequently affects the estuary area, a barrier for seawater entering the area during high tides

This project is expected to provide a final solution to a long-standing flood problem that has affected residents, merchants, and users of the port of San Felipe, especially during the rainy season.
