Two individuals caught transporting a box containing more than 9 kilograms of marijuana in a vehicle were arrested in a prevention and surveillance operation near the Colinas de La Presa neighborhood in the city of Tijuana by agents from the State Immediate Reaction Force (FERI) of the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) and members of the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) according to a press release issued by the Citizens Securitu Secretary of baja California.
It was in Tijuana on Angostura Street, law enforcement officers from the FESC, saw a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan driving at excessive speed, ignoring a stop sign. They immediately caught up with the vehicle and intervened near Carrizo Street.
As they approached the driver, the officers noticed the smell of marijuana inside the truck and asked the occupants to get out of the car and identify themselves. They said their names were Luis Fernando “N” originally from Tijuana, Baja California and Jesús Rosario “N”, originally from Mocorito, Sinaloa, and no illegal activity was found on them.
Upon searching the interior of the truck, a black plastic box with a yellow lid was found containing 23 packages of marijuana, weighing approximately 9 kilograms 960 grams, as well as 79 cartridges of «wax» (a marijuana derivative); 208 marijuana cigarettes; and seven glass jars, each containing 10 marijuana cigarettes.
Federal Police Force agents and SEDENA officers notified the two men of the reason for their arrest. After taking them to the state corporation’s facilities for the completion of a Standardized Police Report (IPH), they were placed at the disposal of the authorities responsible for conducting the relevant investigations and determining the appropriate legal status.
