On December 1, 2024, at around 2:30 in the afternoon, a man who was identified by the State Atttroney Office (FGE in Spanish) as Adán Emmanuel «N», arrived at a Mexicali currency exchange service house called «HANDFORD» located on Benito Juárez and Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard in Residencias section, and has been arraigned in order to be tried in a Court of Law according to a press release issued by the FGE.
Upon arriving at the location, Adán Emmanuel threatened the business manager with burning her alive if she did not hand over the money in the negotiation’s safe, which, if true, shows the high level of danger posed by this nefarious individual. Faced with the threat from the deranged man, the woman was paralyzed with fear, pleading with Adán Emmanuel, «Don’t do this to me,» but the enraged arsonist ignored her pleas and set the place on fire with the employee inside.
The worker at the currency exchange somehow managed to escape the building, but with her feet on fire, causing her burns and material damage to the business. According to reports from the Attorney General’s Office, the pyromaniac Adán Emmanuel could allegedly be linked to other incidents where he attempted to set fire to places, he robbed using this method.
The Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Mexicali, through the West Robbery Crimes Investigation Unit, obtained the indictment against him, and accused him of setting fire to a currency exchange house.
As a result of the evidence gathered by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and presented to the Control Judge, an investigation file was compiled establishing the alleged responsibility of Adán Emmanuel «N».
In the hearing, he was indicted for the crime of aggravated damage to property by fire and attempted robbery of a commercial establishment open to the public with violence. Additionally, justified preventive detention was imposed as a precautionary measure, and a period of 3 months was granted to strengthen the investigation file.
The Baja California Attorney General’s Office strengthens actions within its jurisdiction, seeking to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and that no crime goes unpunished.
