An investigation by the Attorney General’s Office of Sonora (FGJES) led to the arrest indictment and arraignment of a woman and two men, identified as alleged perpetrators of a femicide occurred in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
The investigations by the Public Prosecutor’s Office established, yielded solid evidence which shows alleged participation in the killing of a young woman identified as Aseret, of Antonio de Jesús “N,” 32 years old, André Mateo “N,” 23 years old, and Marien “N,” 21 years old.
The latter two are the brother-in-law and sister of Aseret “N,” 26 years old, the victim of femicide who had recently gotten back from Alaska where she worked and earned 7 thousand dollars that her sibling wanted to steal.
A hypothesis was established, that on May 5, between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m., the detainees were inside a residence, maybe using methamphetamine, and attacked Aseret upon her arrival, choking and killing her by asphyxiation.
Homicide detectives determined that the alleged murderers buried the victim’s body in a hole they dug in the backyard of the house where they were getting high on crystal meth, a heinous and gruesome crime, moreover when her sister was one of her alleged killers.
The hole was discovered by detectives on May 9, leading to the identification of the three probable perpetrators, investigation had begun on May 8 when the victim’s father reported her missing, having lost contact with her after she went out with a young man.
However, security camera footage from a neighbor recorded Aseret “N” entering the house and not leaving afterwards, so they checked upon the place and noticed “disturbed” soil in the backyard of the house, where they eventually found the body.
Detectives interviewed several individuals which led to information suggesting that André Mateo «N» and Marien «N» allegedly planned to kill the woman with Antonio de Jesús «N» help, supposedly aiming to rob her, as Aseret had recently returned from working in Alaska, 7 thousand US dollars she had earned.
Autopsy that the cause of death was asphyxiation by suffocation, as a result, arrest warrants were issued and executed on May 11 by elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC).
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGJES) will seek the highest penalties, thus ensuring the right to justice for the victim and setting a significant precedent in the pursuit of providing women a life free from violence.
