«Fentanyl is a social and public health scourge affecting Mexicali, as well as the rest of the state and most of Mexico. The seizure of one thousand 550 pills of this synthetic drug, along with the arrest of two individuals identified as JOSÉ FRANCISCO «N,» 44 years old, and JOSUÉ IVÁN «N,» 54 years old, was announced by the Mexicali Public Security Directorate (DSPM).
The alleged drug dealers were carrying a .357 caliber magnum revolver. The arrest took place in the early hours of Thursday, March 28, in a neighborhood of Mexicali known as Independencia, when Mexicali PD officers spotted a gray Hyundai occupied by the detainees.
JOSÉ FRANCISCO «N» and JOSUÉ IVÁN «N” looked suspicious to the cops, then when they got pulled over they acted very nervously who decided to search the car and the two men for illicit substances or concealed weapons.
Following the precautionary inspection, the police officers found the afo0rementined firearm, as well as a transparent plastic package containing 1,500 blue pills, enough fentanyl to cause thousands of overdose deaths, and they didn´t explain if these pills were to be sold in Mexicali or smuggled to the USA.
Additionally, five live cartridges were found inside the .357 magnum revolver. The Mexicali PD reported that the firearm, the drugs, and the vehicle were seized.
The pills were labeled with the legend «M30,» which, according to a Mexicali PD press release, «corresponds to the synthetic drug fentanyl» and allegedly identifies the cartel that produced and sold the drug to the alleged dealers.
The alleged drug dealers were taken to the central command post and subsequently handed over to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR) since these are Federal crimes, the so called against health and a violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, in order to initiate the corresponding investigations and legal process which most likely will mean jail sentences for both men.
