A man, who was listed as a terrorist on the FBI watch list in the United States, was arrested on May 10 by US authorities when he was trying to cross the border “mingling” with a group of immigrants into the States in Tijuana, Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda informed.

Information is not very extensive, but there is certainty about the arrest of the alleged terrorist, who somehow managed to enter Mexico and got to Tijuana, aiming to enter the USA from there, in an increasingly worrying issue for Baja California, since different nationality migrants have been arriving to the State lately, according to Mayor Norma Bustamante, there have even been reports about people from Nepal in Mexicali.

Immigration authorities of the United States confirmed the detention of the dangerous subject, but said that neither the FBI nor the Mexican immigration authorities “had reported on the person and his entry into Mexican territory”,  so there was no explanation as to hw he got to Tijuana or where he entered Mexico.

Enrique Lucero, director of Attention to Migrants in Tijuana, pointed out that this is not the first time that people, considered terrorists by the United States authorities, manage to reach the northern border of Mexico and cross from Tijuana to the United States illegally.

.”The National Institute of Immigration (INM) is the one who should have the record of that Afghan person in the event that during his stay in Mexican territory he used airports or bus stations to travel to this border,” said Marina del Pilar.

In these cases, Marina del Pilar explained, US immigration authorities do not share information for security reasons, so there is no precise way to determine how many cases like this have occurred in recent months, but apparently there are several even when they haven´t been “officialized” by authoritheis on either side of the border.
