July 30th on the corner of Benito Juarez Blvd. and Lopez Rayon ave., a man was asking for help, since his wife was inside a car and she was about to give birth, so officer Lopez Moreno, from the Citizen Outreach Unit of Mexicali PD, help them bring a baby boy to this world right there on the streets of Mexicali.
The newborn was in good health conditions and was taken to the nearest hospital by emergency service paramedics, so Mayor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda decided to give a special recognition to Officer Lopez, in order to acknowledge his effort to save two lives in a deed that went beyond his Police obligations and responsibilities.
She said that all City Hall officials and policemen sympathize with the people and their job goes farther beyond law enforcement and this has gone to show that they are willing to go the extra mile to serve and protect Mexicali residents and visitors, said Mayor Avila, who gave a special recognition diploma to officer, Police Chief Alejandro Lora was also there to reward the officer´s effort.
