A sad case of animal cruelty set the State Police and Tijuana PD, after receiving a call on the C5 Control Center, reporting gunshots in La Gloria, a neighborhood in Tijuana, about a man who allegedly fired a shotgun and killed a dog, according to a press release issued by the Baja California State Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCBC) reported.

Upon arriving at the place, a witness told the agents that the alleged perpetrator fled in a white 2022 Nissan Frontier pickup truck with foreign license plates, so the cops and the State Agents set up a permieter in order to locate the cowardly animal abuser in the whereabouts.

After locating the vehicle, state authorities, through a coordinated operation, intercepted the driver, identified as Freddy “N”, 32 years old and originally from Acapulco, Guerrero.

Simultaneously, municipal police officers interviewed several residents of the area, who stated that Freddy “N”, after shooting the dog, hurried toward a house, leaving the weapon leaning against the front door frame, before fleeing in his vehicle.

With this information, the officers went to the residence where they interviewed the suspect’s mother, who told them she had heard a gunshot moments earlier. Because the firearm was in plain sight, the homeowner authorized the authorities to enter and secure it. The weapon was a shotgun, loaded with one live round marked Winchester 12 GA.

Based on the aforementioned events, Freddy “N” was formally arrested, his constitutional rights were read to him, and he, along with the evidence, was turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the authority that will determine his legal status for the crime of animal cruelty.
