The body of Mexican journalist Miguel Ángel Beltrán, from Durango, was found with a message reportedly left near it, although its content has not been disclosed. According to initial reports, his body was identified on Saturday, October 25, by one of his sons. The victim’s remains were wrapped, and indeed, a message was found, his son confirmed.

Beltrán, aged 60, is the seventh journalist killed in Mexico in 2025. The last known contact with him was on Thursday, October 23, according to Contexto de Durango, which also reported that he had served as spokesperson for the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) in Coahuila.
“We deeply regret the death of print media journalist Miguel Ángel Beltrán,” wrote Meganoticias on Sunday, October 26. Beltrán was also active on TikTok, where he shared various kinds of content.
As of the time of this report, no further information has been released about possible suspects or motives. According to data from the journalism protection organization Artículo 19, six journalists had already been murdered in Mexico in 2025 — with Beltrán’s killing, the number rises to seven.
