EL OBJETO DIRECTO (Direct Object) is an exhibition showing multidisciplinary works of art belonging to the Elías+Fontes Art Collection will be inaugurated on Thursday, March 6, evening at 7:00 o’clock in the Rubén García Benavides Art Gallery, in the cafeteria basement of the University Autonomous of Baja California Mexicali Campus, admission is free and open to the public.
This exhibition is part of the artistic collection of Alonso Elías and Patricia Fontes (Elías+Fontes), who have been collecting Baja Californian art since 1993. Currently, their collection is the largest and most important in the state
Through paintings, assemblages, and sculptures by around 40 artists, El Objeto Directo pays special attention to the three-dimensional aspect of art and its relationship with the emotional and physical landscapes of our region.
Artists like Juan Villavicencio, Sergio Castellanos, Guadalupe Vidal, Ingrid Hernández, among others, express the signs of Baja Californian culture and everyday life in works such as Oscuranas, 18 Dedos, Quizás, Quizás, Diablitos, Constelación II, and many more.
UABC, through the General Coordination of Cultural Extension and Science Dissemination, invites the Cimarrona (Longhorn Rams, UABC’s mascot) community and the general public to visit this contemporary art exhibition, which will be available from March 6 to June 6.
