Following up on investigative work and actions to reduce violence in Sinaloa, in the municipality of Culiacán, personnel from @SEDENAmx and @GN_MEXICO_ detained José Ángel “N,” an operator of the Sinaloa Cartel who, according to information circulating on social media, was an important financial and logistical operator for Los Chapitos.
The presence of security authorities in Sinaloa is starting to have an effect and make progress, according to federal authorities who added that the detainee was responsible for planning routes for the international distribution of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
On his X (Twitter) account, Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security, reported the arrest and mentioned that José Ángel “N” has an arrest warrant against him for trafficking and distributing drugs in the United States, noting that this is a significant and impactful blow to the Sinaloa Cartel.
These advances in the fight against fentanyl and other drugs will likely give the government of Claudia Sheinbaum some relief in the face of constant threats and pressures from Donald Trump, who is threatening tariffs against Mexico over the lack of results in the fight against fentanyl and other drugs. This success should improve the perception of the American President.
Another high-profile individual, a member of the Sinaloa Cartel, was arrested in Culiacán, in an operation led by personnel from the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard (GN), together with SEMAR, the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the Ministry of Public Security (SSPC). He was identified as Kevin Alonso “N,” alias “El 200,” who was responsible for the security of Iván Archibaldo Guzmán Salazar, alias “El Chapito,” along with his uncle José Alonso “N,” also a member of the Cartel.
Kevin Alonso “N” was arrested with firearms, and according to official information, he coordinated the purchase of weapons and ammunition to supply criminal cells of “Los Chapitos” and organized reaction forces to confront rival groups or federal authorities, such as in the case of the «Culiacanazo.»
He was also in charge of punishing members of the Cartel who had fault or made mistakes, determining counterintelligence measures to ensure protection and peace in their areas of influence and work, and was the main bodyguard of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar.
He is also allegedly involved in homicides and extortions when the organization deemed necessary and had the collaboration of municipal police officers in Culiacán, who were on the payroll to inform about federal operations and warn of possible actions against him. Simultaneously, José Alonso “N,” Kevin Alonso’s uncle, was also arrested, he had assault rifles and hugh caliber guns as well as tactical equipment, all were seized from him.
