Two cops from Mexicali PD have been suspended and are subject to an investigation regarding a case in which they asked an American woman for a bribe, demanding two thousand pesos because the lady had her dogs traveling with her out of their cages, and all of a sudden got stopped by two cops, a man and a woman.
They pulled the woman aside and the policewoman told her that she was breaking the Law since the dogs were not in cages, which is mandatory for pet owners when they are riding with their animals on board, so the cop lady told her that there was a manner to skip the fine.
When the cops approached her car, her lady driver had already started to record with her cell phone, and the policewoman was next to her, standing by the car´s window, and told her that there was a possibility of avoiding being fined for not having her pet dogs inside a special cage, and asked her for 2 thousand pesos.
The driver reached for her purse in order to get the money, but the female officer told her to keep the money there inside, and to drive half a block away, where she could give the bribe money to the cops, they did so and then they drove away, unaware that they had been recorded asking for money from the lady in order to avoid wasting time, by not going to the Police Station.

The video that the American citizen recorded got to social media somehow, so a lot of people saw and heard the two cops asking for the bribe, and Oscar Vega, from Mexicali City Hall SINDICATURA (among whose tasks is to monitor and follow up complaints against Mexicali PD cops, among other things), said that they have been suspended and there is an ongoing investigation to determine what really happened.
