Several members of the National Guard (GN) working in Baja California have allegedly been involved in criminal activities, with some already facing charges, while other investigations are ongoing regarding a shootout in La Rumorosa in a case of aggression against the National Guardsmen, informed María Elena Andrade, Attorney General of Baja California, upon her arrival at the Legislative Power building for the 2024 Work Report.

Three agents are involved in the homicide of a prison guard, said the State Attorney General, adding that after investigations, the possible involvement of National Guard elements was established, leading to arrest warrants being issued, and five elements are already detained in Mazatlán.

Allegedly, some of these agents are involved in a homicide, others in a triple homicide, and there is also an investigation into a shootout involving National Guardsmen against a truck in La Rumorosa where Colombian migrants died, Andrade noted

«We are in the stage of linking them to the process, and we want their families to have full security and confidence that justice will be served in this case,» stated Attorney General Andrade. However, this is not the only problem in Baja California involving the National Guardsmen.

National Guard elements participated in a shootout on a road in La Rumorosa. The events occurred when they intercepted a vehicle with Colombian immigrants on board, and they were the ones who attacked the National Guardsmen, she explained.

«We have received support from federal authorities in all these violent or criminal acts, and the alleged perpetrators are suspended, and we are working to establish any responsibility they may have in these events,» she assured.

In other cases, she assured that there are advances in the sexual abuse case of the girl Kim and said they are in contact with the family’s legal advisor. «We already have elements to make a decision, but there is no culprit,» remarked the Attorney General in what seems to be a contradiction.

On the other hand, she spoke about a triple homicide of people who had just arrived from Mazatlán, allegedly to intervene in some organized crime operation. «We are in contact with the DSPM regarding what is happening in the Valley,» she concluded.
