Once again, drug addiction claims collateral victims, this time it was a gruesome tragedy in Ensenada, where a woman, addicted to crystal meth, perhaps driven by hallucinations from withdrawal syndrome after being hospitalized for several days in order to give birth to twins, attacked her two defenseless babies, according to a statement from the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
She had given birth by C Section, at a Mexico Social Security Institute clinic (IMSS) but her last day at the hospital, just as she was about to leave, she attacked her newborn babies, they were twins, she took a pair of scissors and charged against her own offspring, which no one can tell how she got, killing one of them and leaving the other in critical condition, in yet another case of what synthetic drugs can do to the human mind, reported the FGE.
The FGE Homicide Department reported that they do not know how or when the woman could have obtained the scissors with which she attacked the two defenseless babies, but everything points that the hospital staff had not realized that the woman could be a security risk.
The woman spent three days at the IMSS Hospital, she entered on May 5, where she had to undergo a cesarean section to give birth to the twins and on May 8, as her husband and she were about to leave, the husband had to go for a final procedure at the office and that’s when the woman, left alone with the babies, took the scissors and the bloody and cruel attack occurred.
Her family said that she was addicted to crystal methamphetamine, she might have become crazy due to “cold turkey” or abstinence syndrome, and attacked her newborn daughters with scissors as she was leaving IMSS Hospital 8 in Tijuana,
There´s no certainty of how she may have managed to get hold of the scissors, the little ones, who had barely been born 24 hours earlier, were the victims of this horrible crime, she killed one and left the other baby seriously injured, she is now detained and the FGE, most likely, will arraign her Monday or Tuesday.
People who abuse methamphetamine may also experience episodes of violent behavior, paranoia, anxiety, confusion, and insomnia. Methamphetamine can also produce psychotic symptoms that last for months or years after the person stops using the drug. Methamphetamine is a synthetic (man-made) stimulant that is highly addictive.
This drug is abused because it produces euphoric effects, sometimes described as a feeling of well-being, which can last up to 24 hours. Methamphetamine is produced at a relatively low cost, making it easily accessible and available to teenagers.
