President of the United States, Joe Biden, signed into law on Wednesday a bill containing a $95 billion military aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, and requiring the Chinese parent company of TikTok to sell the app or face a ban in the country.

For TikTok, the clock has begun ticking in its existential battle to avoid a ban in the United States.

The legislation demanding that Chinese owners of the social media app divest their investments was passed in Congress, capped by Senate approval on Tuesday night as part of a broader foreign aid package.

President Joe Biden plans to sign it on Wednesday, starting a 270-day countdown for a sale or ban in the United States of the popular video-sharing platform.

TikTok and Beijing-based ByteDance have pledged to do everything in their power to stop the measure.
