Baja California Autonomous (UABC) has been certified with Institutional Accreditation awarded by the Interinstitutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES), which is a hallmark of excellence for those Colleges that, have proven their commitment to achieving their goals and a real exercise of their educational functions and objectives, as well as the efficiency of the university mission.
Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre, UABC Dean, explained that this institutional accreditation means a huge distinction for the University, as «it is based on a rigorous evaluation process aimed at identifying the strengths and areas of opportunity of college activity, as well as the assessment of its programs relevance, effectiveness of practices, and educational dynamics, in light of quality criteria and indicators.»

Palafox Maestre also mentioned that these evaluations allow institutions to reflect on the relevance of their practices and institutional management processes, while reaffirming a big commitment to transparency and accountability to the Cimarronaes (Longhorn Ram, UABC mascot) college community and society in general.
Among the strengths reaffirmed for UABC are: Extensive social recognition the University has in Baja California, it is an institution that positively fulfills purposes for which it was created; and, the extensive experience and commitment to assessment and quality assurance of academic and administrative processes with a highly relevant structure supporting a high degree of performance in its operations.
General Coordinator of the CIEES, Miguel Ángel Tamayo Taype, said that accreditation «is the result of the comprehensive evaluation of all functions of institutions under an external view from a specialized agency such as CIEES, and whose results have been assessed with impartiality, objectivity, and transparency.»
Backed by the CIEES, this accreditation becomes a seal of trust and credibility, both for the academic community and for society; it not only validates the institutions’ commitment to educational excellence but also drives innovation and constant adaptation, ensuring an educational environment in constant evolution and improvement.
He added that Institutional Accreditation allows UABC to be accountable to society for its performance and facilitates its internationalization. Additionally, the accrediting body provided the university with a set of recommendations for improvement in its comprehensive processes.
The event was attended by the executive member of CIEES, Dr. Rocío Llarena de Thierry; the Secretary-General of UABC, Dr. Joaquín Caso Niebla, and the Coordinator of the Office of Institutional Planning and Development, Dr. Óscar Omar Ovalle Osuna.
