As a passionate enthusiast of engineering and science innovation, Leonardo David Ortega Lomeli, an Engineering Master Degree in Innovation, focused on Information Systems and Technologies at CETYS University Campus Mexicali, embarked on a practical theoretical investigation into emerging technologies during his recent abroad experience in Japan.

Leonardo took part in the Emerging Future Technologies Program (EMFUTECH) in Osaka, Japan. Over 12 weeks, he explored the frontiers of innovation, attending seminars, workshops, and visiting research institutions in Japan, undoubtedly a country that is leading in technology, on behalf of Baja California State and CETYS University (Baja California most important private University) with distinction.

As part of this program, Leonardo took on the challenge of developing a ROS (Robot Operating System) robot to control an autonomous hexapod in mining environments. This experience not only expanded his technical skills but also shaped his perspective towards innovative solutions for current engineering challenges.

Thanks to his performance and the skills he demonstrated in practice, the student received the «Outstanding Performance Award,» which is given to the students with the highest and most relevant performance in this course.

Leonardo’s experience in Japan, under the EMFUTECH program, strengthens CETYS University’s commitment to international education opportunities por its students, as well as serving as example of how synergy between quality education and global opportunities can foster the development of technical and creative skills in specialized fields such as robotics and mechatronic engineering.
