Relatives of Ombudsman assassinated in BCS rebuke governor

Relatives of Silvestre de la Toba, HUman Rights Ombudsman of Baja California Sur murdered on November 20, made direct verbal complaints to the state governor, when attending the official’s funeral.
The head of the Human Rights Commission of Baja California Sur was murdered in La Paz four  days ago.
“Mr. Governor, we voted for you, we believed in you, we believed that you had the way to solve these problems, but you are not doing a good job,” a person who identified himself as a cousin of the Ombudsman told Carlos Mendoza Davis. .

In a video spread through social networks, it is observed when the family member asks the media present at the wake to let the governor know “that their family is in big pain, a pain that comes from the heart”.
The head of the State Human Rights Commission of Baja California Sur was assassinated on the night of November 20. Armed people attacked his car in which he was traveling with his wife and two children, along the streets of La Paz.

In the attack his son also died, while his wife and daughter ended up badly injured and hospitalized.

Silvestre de la Toba held the position of Ombudsman in Baja California Sur since February 2015; previously he was a member of the PRD political party, and between 2008 and 2011 he was a local representative for the Nueva Alianza political party.
This Thursday, October 23, the heads of the State Human Rights Commissions, and the president of the National Human Rights Commission, Luis Raúl González Pérez, paid tribute to Silvestre de la Toba.

In the event, the Ombudsmen expressed their intention to meet with President Enrique Peña Nieto and the National Commission of Governors (CONAGO) to agree on urgent protection measures.
