IEEBC AND TIJUANA CITY COUNCIL WITH COMMUNICATION STILL WORKING AT CITIZEN POLL REQUEST

TIJUANA, BC. WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 08, 2017. In order to comply with the provisions of the agreement issued by the General Council of the State Electoral Institute, regarding the request for a plebiscite presented by a group of citizens against the raise of public transportation fees and the contracting scheme to modernize public lighting under the modality of concession, a second working meeting was held between authorities of the State Electoral Institute of Baja California and the XXII City Council of Tijuana.

The Executive Secretary of the IEEBC, Raúl Guzmán Gómez, thanked the willingness of the City of Tijuana to address the call of the electoral agency and reiterated the willingness of the General Council of the Electoral Institute to asist and advise the Municipality in the work related to the new municipal regulations in terms of citizen participation, with the objective of promoting the contribution of Baja Californians in matters of importance to their own community.

Meanwhile, the Private Secretary of the Municipal President of the XXII Tijuana City Council, Zabel Arturo Solis Ruiz, highlighted the interest of President Juan Manuel Gastélum Buenrostro to regulate citizen participation in that municipality.

He also reported on the progress made by the City Council in terms of municipal regulations as well as a scheme in which the participation of Tijuana residents will be cotemplated.
