Man dies of Rickettsia in Mexicali

On Wednesday, October 5th, a man died of rickettsia in Mexicali, “the patient spent seven days in critical condition before he passed away,” said Néstor Hernández Milán, head of the department of Epidemiology of the State Ministry of Health.

From January to date, 40 cases of rickettsia have been confirmed, of which 15 have resulted in casualties.

The most recent case was a 27-year-old man, a resident of the Colonia Ampliación Solidaridad who was treated on August 15 with symptoms and finally died August 22.

Of the confirmed cases, 27 have been registered in Mexicali, 4 in Tijuana, 6 in Ensenada and 2 in Vicente Guerrero.

Talking about casualties, 12 have been reported in Mexicali, 1 in Tijuana and 2 in Ensenada.
