March against insecurity is on its way to Mexicali

Aug 12, 2017

To demonstrate against the insecurity and impunity that prevails in the state of Baja California, a group of citizens took off on Friday, August 11 on a peaceful march from Tijuana to Mexicali.

“We are looking for justice and dignity, here in Tijuana many citizens have been roobbed, assaulted, and some of them even declare to have suffered violence from the authorities that are supposed to take care of them,” said Daniel Alcaraz, law student at the Autonomous University of Baja California: UABC.

The mobilization began Friday at noon with the participation of about fifteen people, who took off from the Cathedral Our Lady of Guadalupe located in the downtwon area of Tijuana.

“This march is a cry of help, there are children being shot on the streets of our city, if that is happening right now, what can we expect next,” he emphasized.

The group of protesters summoned all citizens to join this march, that they estimate will last around three days.

“All NGOs, citizen groups or movements in the state are invited, we understand that a number of citizens will join the demonstration in Tecate, including El Hongo, and also the intention is to make contact with the people of Mexicali Resiste so that they are aware that we support them in their struggle against the corporations like Constellations,” he said.
