Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu hails Trump decision on Mexico wall

Jan 28, 2017

Jerusalem (AFP) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to Twitter on Saturday January 28 to hail new US President Donald Trump’s decision to build a wall on the border with Mexico. As we all know, Trump signed an executive order telling officials to begin to “plan, design and construct a physical wall” along the 3,200-kilometre (2,000-mile) US-Mexico border, making good on a campaign pledge. In an interview with American channel Fox News on Thursday Trump justified his decision, citing Israel which, he said, had managed to “stop 99.9 percent” of illegal immigration by constructing a wall. He was referring to the more than 240-kilometre barrier Israel completed in 2014 along its border with Egypt, a route previously taken by many African illegal immigrants and traffickers. “President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel’s southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea,” Netanyahu tweeted in English, adding the Israeli and American flags. Several hours later, foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon said in a tweet, also in English, that Netanyahu “referred to our specific security experience which we are willing to share. We do not express a position on US-Mexico relations.” Netanyahu, who heads one of the most right-wing governments in the history of the Jewish state, has not hidden his admiration for the new US president. The Israeli premier’s most nationalist allies see in Trump’s administration the chance to continue building Jewish settlements in occupied east Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank. Israel announced a major settlement expansion in the days after Trump’s January 20 inauguration. On Sunday, the city planning committee approved building permits for 566 settler homes in east Jerusalem. Two days later, the defence ministry announced plans for 2,500 settler homes in the occupied West Bank. And on Thursday, Israeli officials gave final approval to 153 east Jerusalem settler homes. The announcements have deeply concerned those seeking to salvage a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict....

Kiko Vega absence has negotiations in a quagmire

Kiko Vega absence has negotiations in a quagmire

Jan 26, 2017

ALFREDO AZCARATE VARELA EDITOR   Negotiations between Baja California Government and the people who keep blockades in the buildings of State Congress  and Executive Power in Mexicali, as well as the start of the works for the Constellation Brands (CB) aqueduct, have grounded to a halt since the demonstrators insist in the presence of Gov. Kiko Vega in the talks, but in a forced interview with Rosa María Méndez, said he only negotiate personally if the militants give the buildings back. Among alleged “tricks” in the Water Law “reversal” by Mr. Vega and complaints because people don’t want CB to use water belonging to Mexicali Valley to produce beer, the militants  demand Kiko Vega’s attendance to negotiation talks, but he hasn’t deemed it necessary and has sent State Secretary, Paco Rueda and Major Official Loreto Quintero, but the demonstrators want Kiko Vega to attend in person. Wednesday afternoon, the State Government called to meet in Mexicali State Arts Center, Kiko didn’t attend, the demonstrators walked away again the situation has gone stagnant, it seems that the presence of Kiko Vega is the only thing that could reactivate dialog but it seems that Baja California Gov. doesn’t deem necessary to heed the call of the people who are blocking the buildings and the aqueduct...

Trump calls off meeting with Peña if Mexico doesn’t pay for the wall

Trump calls off meeting with Peña if Mexico doesn’t pay for the wall

Jan 26, 2017

ALFREDO AZCARATE VARELA EDITOR Trump tweets assuring that NAFTA caused a 60 billion dollar deficit in the USA and due to Mexico’s negative to pay for the wall Mr. Trump’s intends to build, and he says it would be pointless to meet with President Peña scheduled for next January 30th. This tweet comes as an answer to the recorded message broadcast yesterday where President Peña Nieto assured that Mexico wouldn’t pay for the wall, this goes to show that Trump is in a hurry to fulfill his campaign threats and promises and has also ordered  to cut finds for the so called “sanctuary cities”, where indocumented immigrants live in a tacit truce with migration authorities. Mexico must appeal to international instances, but the USA are not part of the International Justice Court of The Hague, since they have a sovereign immunity  concept which keeps its Government officials from being tried or even accused before international courts....
